The headline of the day? Defending champion Remy Bertola wasted no time reminding everyone why he’s the man to beat in Sion.
Facing qualifier Adrien Burdet, Bertola played with his trademark stamina and effortless style, cruising through the first round with confidence. The crowd loved every minute, and it’s clear he’s here for another deep run.

But Bertola wasn’t the only local story lighting up the courts. The doubles match featuring Leo Galliano and Mark Burgos brought a special energy to the day. Mark, well-known as the head coach at TC Valère, teamed up with Leo, who’s currently playing college tennis for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
Their chemistry and fighting spirit were on full display, drawing big cheers from the home fans and showing what local passion is all about, despite the highly frustrating loss at the super tie-break.
