What a day at the Open de Sion! Day 4 delivered everything tennis fans could hope for: four singles quarterfinals, all decided in three intense sets, and the doubles finalists locked in after high-level semifinals.
Singles: Quarterfinal Drama on Every Court
Every singles match on Friday went the distance, showing just how high the level is this year in Sion:
  • Patrick Zahraj [1] (GER) def. Luca Staeheli (SUI) 6-1, 0-6, 6-1
    Zahraj started strong, Staeheli answered with a bagel in the second, but the German top seed found his rhythm again in the decider.
  • Alexander Weis [3] (ITA) def. Henry Bernet [8] (SUI) 3-6, 7-6(3), 7-5
    The young Swiss, Bernet, impressed by taking the first set and pushing Weis to the limit. The Italian’s experience made the difference in the end.
